HEY, WE'RE THE BAREFOOT TRIBE MOVEMENT

We believe that the world is a much nicer place to live, work and play when we all belong, and when we’re sharing the things we care about with others.

...But you already knew that, huh

We understand that strong communities are built around individuals like yourself, with unique life stories, of all ages and abilities, whether new to the area or at any stage of life. Our connections with one another allow us to learn and grow, discovering new things about ourselves and the world around us.

However, it can be challenging to put yourself out there and connect with others. That's why, four years ago, we created the Barefoot Tribe with a straightforward goal: to bring people together!

Building strong communities of women

We're so much more than a space to connect,
We're a movement of togetherness

Our Vision

Our vision for The Barefoot Tribe is to create a supportive and inclusive community for women of all ages to connect, have fun, and build meaningful friendships. We strive to provide a safe and welcoming space for women to participate in a variety of social activities, share their passions and interests, and support one another. Through our efforts, we hope to foster a sense of belonging and connection among our members and to create a positive impact on the lives of women in our community.

Our Purpose

We exist to spark a human connection between women from diverse backgrounds and to grow inclusive communities in which all people are valued and belong.

Our Values

Our values guide everything that we do, from our conversations with the people we encounter, to how we make decisions as a team. They’re our north star.

I'm Rachael Harman: The driving force behind The Barefoot Tribe. I wear many hats, yet my most cherished role is that of a community builder.

Rachael is the founder and driving force behind The Barefoot Tribe. The journey began in 2019 when she found the local social scene lacking for someone in her age group. Determined to make a change, she launched The Lost Girls, which has since blossomed into the vibrant community now known as The Barefoot Tribe.

Initially focused on connecting women aged 18-40, The Barefoot Tribe continued to evolve, particularly during Rachael's career transition in 2020. The community's growth was made possible by the commitment of two dedicated volunteer teams who kept things going during her absence. That same year, Rachael and her then-fiancé made a major move down south to live with her parents.

Within weeks of settling back home, Rachael recognised a strong need for local women to connect. Unlike Coffs Harbour, there were no social groups in the area. In response, she founded a new, open-aged group, which saw overwhelming success, attracting over 500 members in just the first two weeks.

In 2022, Rachael's journey led her back to Coffs Harbour after purchasing a home. With the support of her team, regular meetups continued. These gatherings took a short hiatus in 2023 as she focused on getting married and welcoming a golden retriever puppy into her life. Now, living with a golden retriever, a Labrador, three frogs, and her husband, Rachael is thrilled to announce a new chapter in 2024.

This year, The Barefoot Tribe has expanded to welcome members of all ages, ensuring that everyone can find their place within the broader community. Rachael will be introducing smaller social groups to make it easier for members to connect with others of similar ages and shared interests or hobbies.

Whether it’s forging new friendships, exploring exciting activities, or meeting incredible people, The Barefoot Tribe offers a space where life can be shared and enjoyed. Join this thriving, welcoming community and become part of a journey where everyone belongs.
